🏁 About the Event

Join us on Sunday, 1st November 2026 for Wales’ most iconic running event - the Tata Steel Richard Burton 10K and Runtech Kevin Webber Mini Miler.

We are thrilled to announce that this year’s 10K will host both the:

🏆 Welsh Road 10K Championships 2026 and
🏆 Welsh Vets Championships 2026.

Our heartfelt thanks go to Tata Steel, Runtech, and all supporting sponsors for their continued backing of this historic community race, which celebrates the spirit and beauty of our Welsh valleys and honours the legendary Richard Burton.

All profits go to local charities and community organisations (Charity No. 1176360).

🎟️ Entries

Entries for both events close at 23:59 on Sunday, 11th October 2026 - exactly three weeks before race day, or sooner if capacity is reached. There will be no entries accepted after this time.

All registration is completed online. Race numbers and packs will be posted in advance if entered before the deadline.

👟 Event Timetable

Runtech Kevin Webber Mini Miler : 10:00 a.m.

A one-mile fun run for all the family — no pressure, just enjoyment! Accompanying adults are welcome.

Tata Steel Richard Burton 10K : 11:00 a.m.

A thrilling, renowned 10K combining a challenging course with the community spirit of Cwmavon. Runners must be age 15 or over. Open to runners of all levels.

📦 Race Pack & Number Collection

Your race pack includes your running number with an embedded timing chip. Please pin it to the front of your vest or T-shirt to ensure your finish time is recorded. Your chip provides an accurate “chip time” — from when you cross the start line to when you finish.

Numbers will be checked on entry to the start pens.

📍 Cwmavon Library 🕒 Collection Times:

Friday, 30th October – 2:00 PM to 5:50 PM
Saturday, 31st October – 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Race Day – 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM (at the marquee)

Mini Miler runners receive a T-shirt, medal, and goody bag.
🏆 Trophies for the first 3 boys and first 3 girls (presented at 10:50 AM before the 10K start).
Children under 9 should be accompanied by an adult (Welsh Athletics directive).

🧳 Baggage Drop

A baggage facility will be available at Cwmavon Library, near the Event Village, from 08:00 AM. Runners can deposit one bag using the baggage label attached to their race number. (Valuables left at your own risk.)

🕓 Cut-Off Time & Road Reopening

The 10K race carries a 2.5-hour cut-off time to allow roads to reopen safely. Runners wishing to continue after this must do so on pavements at their own risk, no longer as part of the official event.

🧍‍♂️ Start Line & Pen Access

Start Line: Outside Cwmavon Community Centre (SA12 9DF).Pen Access Opens: 10:30 AM Last Access: 10:50 AM Access to pens2–8 via Hazelwood Row. Access to Pen 1 from the west side of the Community Centre.

🚗 Travel & Parking

Thousands of runners and supporters are expected — please allow plenty of time and consider public transport or lift-sharing.

Parking is not permitted in the village, please ensure you use the park and ride service provided.

There is a small carpark charge of £1. Busses to the start line are at no cost.

Aberafan Shopping Centre Multi-Storey Car Park (Llewellyn St, Port Talbot, SA13 1PB)Port Talbot Parkway Train/Bus Station (outside the Grand Hotel)

🕖 Car Park Open: 07:00 AM – 17:30 PM 🚌 Bus Collection: 07:30 AM – 10:00 AM 🚌 Return Shuttle Drop-Off: 13:00 PM – 16:00 PM (Heol Jiwbili)

Port Talbot Parkway and the Multi-Storey Car Park will close at 17:30 PM. Please also note: Ynysygwas Hill and surrounding roads close from 08:00 AM.

🚻 Toilets & Showers

Multiple toilet facilities are located throughout the village and Event Village (see event map).

Men’s showers: Cwmavon Rugby Club
Women’s showers: Parc Siencyn Powell
Mixed showers: Squash Club (next to Football Club)
Disabled toilets available at Cwmavon Community Centre.

💂‍♂️ Safety, Marshalling and First Aid 

First Aid by Western Beacons Mountain Rescue Team.
Marshals provided by local running clubs and causes.
Traffic Management by Core.

If you feel unwell or unable to continue, please stop and alert the nearest marshal.

Runners should keep to the left-hand side of the road unless directed otherwise.

Photography and videography (including drone footage) will take place for promotional and archival purposes. Images may appear on our website and social media. If you prefer not to be photographed, please inform the event photographer.
